Above: Burscough's Christmas lights as they were last year, and right, the new lights
In previous years, the lights have been provided under a hire contract, which offered the best value when chosen. This year the Parish Council have bought their display outright and contract with a local firm for just putting them up and taking them down, storage and maintenance. While it has cost a little more this year, in future years we expect it to be able to provide a significant saving.
This year Burscough’s Christmas Lights were switched on on 27th November which is Lancashire Day, with Wharf’s amazing display coming to life on the 28th.
Lancashire Day commemorates the day in 1295 when Lancashire sent its first representatives to Parliament.
