Thank you so much to all the shops for taking part in the Christmas Shop Window Competition.
Below you can read the outcome and some of the comments of the judges.
Our judges this year were children from St John’s RC School in Chapel Lane, teachers and parents. Their decision was made on the afternoon of Tuesday, 15th December. The weather was awful, but the children with their staff and parents went around the village giving careful consideration to the all the window displays. Over refreshments at Infusions, they chose VIP as the Winner. The group completed 14 nomination forms. Each of the judges wrote down three nominations and wrote down why they thought those windows were best, and then they voted for the winner. I have listed below the businesses that received a nomination with some of reasons given.
VIP have been awarded a £100 cash prize and their name will be engraved on the shield which they will hold for one year.
We think the shop windows are wonderful and that the shops add to the sense of community and we hope attract business to the centre of Burscough. We have followed the same format for four years now, but before we plan next year, I wondered if shop owners/staff or Burscough residents had any thoughts about whether we should change anything.
If you would like to provide feedback about the competition, or about any other aspects of the work of the Parish Council please contact me or any member of the Parish Council.
