Burscough Parish Council can do as little or as much as the Community wants it to do. Much is possible with extra help. If you would like to support the work of the Parish Council, volunteers are always very welcome. Here are some of the ways that volunteers support the work of the Parish Council:
The Sustainability Group are a friendly group who help keep the village tidy and attractive, by planting attractive and useful plants such as the herb garden by hyltons carpets, and the community garden by the side of Burscough Bridge Railway Station. There's lots more that can be done with extra pairs of hands.
Footpath Working Group If you are interested in our public footpath, our Footpath Working Group meetings monthly to discuss maintenance, and issues, and plans for improvements. The Parish Council are working in partnership with EnDevA who support people with health issues to get out and about walking and maintaining the footpath network. If you would like to volunteer, either as part of the committee, as someone with health issues who feels they would benefit, or to help with maintenance and supporting others, your support will be greatly appreciated.
Specialist Skills Buying in professional advice and consultancy is often too expensive to consider. If you have specialist skills and that you are prepared to share we are always welcome to hear from you: Engineers and environmentalists, accountants, planners, solicitors and more - if you are prepared to give your time and knowledge for your local community, please do give us a call - we would love to hear from you.
Burscough Renewable Energy CIC Are you passionate about renewable energy? BREC is a small company set up with the support of the Parish Council to encourage the use of renewables, and to support community organisations who want to invest in renewable energy. New members very welcome.
Office Working and Special Projects There is never enough hands to do all the things we want to do. If you would like to volunteer some time to help the Parish Council, jobs from delivering leaflets, conducting surveys, answering the phone or taking minutes, get in touch.
